County council adopts new bylaw, introduces new fee

Council adopted a bylaw (1419-09) to update the county’s schedule of fees associated with building permits, development and subdivision applications, mapping and various other planning functions.

-Borrowing bylaw

Council adopted a bylaw (1420-09) to borrow $3 million to until taxes are received and to cover the county’s funding portion of the Building Canada Fund for the resource road, projected at $3.1 million.

-More funds for Red Willow water project

Provincial funding of over $80,000 has been added to a grant for the wastewater treatment system in the hamlet of Red Willow.

The original grant of $911,250 under the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership has been increased to $992,991.52, states a letter from Transportation Minister Luke Ouellette

-Ceremonies set for new water reservoirs

Two new water reservoirs in the Endiang and Byemoor area will officially be inaugurated with special ceremonies following completion of upgrades and connection to the system operated by the Starland/Stettler Regional Water Service Commission.

Ceremonies for Ken Keibel Memorial Water Reservoir and Treatment Facility in Endiang and the Byemoor water reservoir and treatment facility will be scheduled for sometime in October, suitable to the schedule of Drumheller-Stettler MLA and Infrastructure Minister Jack Hayden.

The facility in Endiang is already operating.

-Waste water committee

Reeve Earl Marshall and Councillor Joe Gendre were appointed to represent the County of Stettler to serve on the Buffalo Lake waste water committee to explore options to construct a collection facility for south Buffalo Lake with the summer villages of Rochon Sands and White Sands.

-Cost sharing approved

Council approved a staff recommendation to authorize cost-sharing for construction in the amount of $6,750 on Range Road 18-1 south of Township Road 37-2 (east of NE 37-18 W4M) under the county’s policy for cost sharing for road construction.
