Cookbook club generates deliciousness

The Summer Reading Program has begun and so far we are having a blast.

STETTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY -- The Summer Reading Program has begun and so far we are having a blast.

The businesses in our community have shown us some tremendous support, so that we can give the kids an awesome summer. We want to send a thank you out to all businesses for their support. We appreciate your generosity.

Our first family event is this Friday, July 8 at 2 p.m. We will be meeting everyone at Heartland Bowl to enjoy some free bowling and cake. Help us celebrate our first week of the program by joining us.

Next week, the Jewel Theatre is having a special showing of Finding Nemo on Friday, July 15. Join us to watch this classic before the sequel comes out. Your admission is free but any snacks you may want during the movie, you will need to purchase. Our Friday events are for families, so kids of all ages can attend.

Read and Rhyme for ages up to five will still take place over the summer, but it will be once a week on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Also keep an eye out for our two regular special events.

The cookbook club’s theme this month is TV chefs. The selected books are available at the library and we’ll be having a delicious potluck feast on Monday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. We were blown away last month by dishes like Chinese barbecued pork, mango shrimp salad rolls, oven-roasted ratatouille and asparagus pie. New members are always welcome and you don’t have to attend every meeting. Email spl@prl.ab.ca for more details.

It’s never too early to sign up for the Summer Reading Program’s talent show. You’ll have all of July to hone your skills to show off on Friday August 12. We’re welcoming all ages and all acts. If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, perform magic or entertain a crowd, sign up.

Also, join us for our other programs that run weekly including gardening, Teen Cooking Club, and Make & Create. Check our Facebook at ‘Stettler Summer Reading Program’ for all of our program descriptions, times, and details.

Keep an eye out for additional activities on our website (spl.prl.ab.ca) and Facebook page. And if you have an activity you’d like to do/see at the library, feel free to approach us.
