Community bids farewell to Norbert Mueller

GADSBY/WESTWOODS

It was standing room only on Saturday afternoon, when 475 friends and family came to Westwoods Agriplex to say good bye to Norbert Mueller. Cars lined the roads as well as filling all the available parking.

Over fifty representatives from the Paintearth mine came as a group to honor their co-worker. Lunch was provided by the Westwoods community. The entire Gadsby/Westwoods community sends deepest sympathy to Lisa and family.

Congratulations to Betty Stotz who received word she has a new great granddaughter, Abilgail Olivia Rae Perkins. Proud grandmother is Vicki Lovingson of Red Deer. The new parents are Evan and Jenn Perkins, a sister for Makayla.

Get well wishes to great grandfather Vic Perkins of Saskatchewan who was driving a tractor which was involved with a semi-truck collision. Vic is in Saskatoon hospital in serious but stable condition.

Ray and Rene Blackmore are back from Puerta Vallarta, where they soaked in the sun for three weeks. This is an annual visit (14 years this year), reacquainting with many friends they have made during the years. Even though it was a cooler than usual year, it is always great to leave the Alberta winter behind for a few weeks.

Happy birthday to Frank Dahlgren!

Frank and Eleanor celebrated with supper out, on Friday night, along with Al and Stettla Cassidy, Mike Glazier and Amber Matier.

Sympathies go out to Kathleen Muncy and family on the loss of husband Ken Muncy. Ken had been in hospital recently and passed away last week. Funeral services were held at Halkirk community hall on Monday, Feb. 28. Ken and Kathleen and family lived in the Westwoods District and helped at the Agriplex and in the community for many years. Ken was 79 years of age.

Percy Heer received word of the passing of his uncle, Manuel Heer on Sunday night. Manuel was born and raised south of Gadsby and married local girl Gladys Jordan. Manuel raised his family in the Botha and Erskine areas and moved to Willow Creek Lodge in recent years, passing away in the Pine Ridge (Nursing Home) Stettler Hospital Complex.

Sympathies go out to son Dervil of Cochrane, Alberta, daughter Barbara, Ontario and Sharon in Stettler and their families. Manuel was 88 years old.
