CHRIST KING SCHOOL -- From Jan. 19 to Jan. 20, CKCS participated in an in-line skating program. Rollerblades and pylons were set up in the gymnasium, where each class came for one hour each day to strap on the necessary equipment. Students were shown how to skate forwards, backwards, and do different skating techniques including jumping, bubbles, and stopping. Every student had a ton of fun, and even some of the staff strapped on skates. A huge thank you to Parent Council and Miss Delhommeau, who organized the event.
Spirit Squad held another Spirit Day on Jan. 22. Staff and students came dressed as twins; it was so much fun seeing double all day. The Spirit Day Trophy, which is awarded to the class who has the most enthusiasm and participation, went to the Grade 1 class. When it was announced, their cheers could be heard all the way down the hallway. CKCS is looking forward to more Spirit Days and Spirit Squad events as we enter February.
On Jan. 20, both the boys and girls basketball teams travelled to Big Valley to face the Bulldogs. Both teams played extremely well - the girls conceded their game, and the boys took home their first win of the season. The boys team also travelled to Sylvan Lake on Jan. 22 and 23 for the Fox Run Boys Basketball Tournament. They played a total of four games. Facing off against some of the toughest teams they have seen all season, the boys worked hard and never wavered in their determination to do their best. The Chargers came back with fourth place in the tournament, along with many laughs and great memories.
This week, the CKCS junior highs look forward to their annual Muchmusic Dance. There will be a concession stand, prizes and music videos to watch, listen, and dance to. The event will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Students from the surrounding area are invited to join in the fun. Invitations have been sent to all surrounding schools for students to sign up for the event.
