Centennial preparations gather pace

LOUISE BELLAIR / Botha Booster

It was nice to have a couple days like spring before it got cold and winter looking again, with some snow and fog. Hopefully spring-like weather will come back soon.

The date for the centennial is Aug 12-14. Organizers are looking for people to show up at their March 25 meeting, at 1 p.m. They would love to have anyone that can come out to volunteer to help with invitations.

They would love to have present at that meeting some people that have lived in Botha area for a long time.

With everyone’s help all the invitations will be sent out and no one who ever lived in this area will be left out. So if you could help with this, it would truly be appreciated.

This meeting and all the centennial meetings will be held at the seniors’ centre. The following regular meeting will be held on the April 14 at 3:30 p.m. Please attend they need your help to make the centennial weekend a success.

If you have any questions or would like more information on the centennial or cannot make the meetings and would like to help out please contact Josie Hunter at 403-742-2170 or Sherri at 403-742-8214. All the help they can get would truly be appreciated.

The Underwood Flying Machine is, too, getting replicated by Bob Erickson and friends for the occasion. Donations are being accepted for this project and will be very much appreciated. Please contact Bob, Josie or Sherri for more information on this.

For the Saturday morning parade, they are looking for old cars and trucks, kids to decorate their bikes, decorating floats etc.; please contact Bob Erickson, or Marie and Dan Barnec. They need people and ideas to make this parade a success.

For the whole weekend there will be free camping at the ball diamond. So bring your camping gear out and come out for the whole weekend and a great time. There will be a water station and a dumping station to use at the Botha Hall, for your convenience.

On March 27, starting at 1:30 p.m. come and kick your feet up. The Old Time Dance Club will be holding their dance then, and it’s a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Sunday mornings come on out at 9 a.m. and take in a great service at the Botha United Church. They would love to have everyone out to worship with them.
