Catholic Education Day marked at Christ King School

ented their projects at a Health Fair on Thursday, May 13, to a panel of judges from our community. Loretta Lavallee, Dawn Fryer, Julie Jarmin, Anna Garez, and Mark Fox visited each of the students to learn about various health related topics like the effects of smoking on our bodies, stress and sleep, the benefits of exercise and a comparison of the nutritional values of different types of fast food.

Father Arlan helped us to celebrate World Catholic Education Day at Mass on Friday, May 14, 2010. World Catholic Education Day is a time for Catholics around the world to take time to pause, reflect on and pray for the gift of Catholic education.

Our track team is getting ready with practices on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch and Wednesdays and Thursdays after school. They will be attending a track meet on June 1 in Wainwright. We will be hosting a track meet for grade 1-6 students at our school on May 26. Parent council will be running the concession and providing a pre-ordered lunch. The CARA soccer tournament will be this Thursday. Speed Stackers will meet on Tuesday at lunch.

Our gardening club is getting excited to plant our vegetable garden this Wednesday since we’ve received the go ahead to get into the garden. We’ll also be joining the Stettler community gardens committee at the kickoff on this Saturday, May 22.

It’s field trip time again. The kindergarten class will be visiting the veterinary clinic on Thursday. Grade 5 and 6 is making plans and they have been raising funds for their end of the year field trip as have the grade 7 and 8 boys.
