STETTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY -- You have only one week to take advantage of the specials available at some of the great local businesses in Stettler that are only available with your library card. September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and because of that you can present your library card at Bloke's Bakery and receive a free doughnut, receive 10 per cent off at the Coffee Tree and Party Maxx and you get 15 per cent off at Savage Value Drug Mart. Your library can be used for more than just books.

Are you looking for a specific Pokémon character? I'm positive that you will find them at the monthly Pokemon Swap Meet on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Play, battle, and trade your favourite Pokémon at the Stettler Public Library. And you don't even need your phone to find these Pokémon!

Do you have an item that needs repairing but you don't know where to turn or how to fix it? Come to the Recreation Centre on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 1-5 p.m. and get free help repairing items from local expert volunteers at the Repair Cafe. The library will be helping with conversion of family video tapes and slides to digital and clothes mending, but there are also other items that experts on-site can help you with. Volunteers will help you fix a variety of items, such as wood items, small engines, small appliances and light fixtures, computers and laptops, cell phones and tablets, power tools, musical instruments and can also help you sharpen your knives. Why throw it away when you can fix it?

The Stettler Public Library will be closed on Monday, Sept. 26 for staff professional development. We will be back refreshed and renewed on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.

Our Awesome Autumn continues on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 3:30 p.m., when kids aged five-and-up explore the book "Fletcher and the Falling Leaves," and make some beautiful leaf-rubbing art with Darlene.

Have you ever thought about writing your family's history? The Stettler Public Library has the help that you need. We are very pleased to have Lorraine Lohr Cathro return to the Library on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. She will be talking about writing your family history: the processes, rewards and the challenges. Refreshments will be provided.

Bananas unite! For those of you who don't know, that means Read and Rhyme is back. Little people (ages 0-5) bring your big people each Monday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for songs, rhymes, and crafts. Let's get the library jumping.

Keep checking spl.prl.ab.ca or our Facebook page for news of any additional activities as some may require pre-registration! If you have any ideas, suggestions, or questions about activities you want to see at the library let us know. We hope to see you at the library soon!
