Canada Day marked in style

Canada Day in Donalda was a huge success. There was music, games, country market and great food all around.

DONALDA DIARY -- Canada Day in Donalda was a huge success. There was music, games, country market and great food all around. It was the perfect day to celebrate. Everyone had a wonderful time, and especially enjoyed the amazing fireworks display. A big thank you to all the volunteers, societies and businesses that made the day possible.

The Donalda Art Gallery is still showcasing the unique glasswork of Joanne Green alongside her husband Bill Green, who has been conducting live demonstrations of Diamond Willow carving. This art exhibition runs until Sunday, July 17. Opening Friday, July 22 will be the Lorne Todd Family Exhibition, featuring acrylic paintings, beadwork and metal artworks. The art gallery is open every day during the summer and is located just across the street from the museum. Everyone is welcome to visit.

Long-time resident of Donalda, Don McKay celebrates his 100th birthday onFriday, July 15. No doubt he has seen many changes over his 100 years. He was born and lived on the same farm southeast of Donalda for 99 years and last year moved into Heritage House in the Stettler Care Centre. On July 16, his wife Evelyn, his children Robin, Lorraine, Paul and Wendy along with their families are planning a family gathering to honour Don on this momentous occasion. Members of government - Prime Minister, local MLAs and MPs have sent their greetings for Don’s 100th birthday. Hats off to Don McKay on this special honorary birthday as few see this ripe old age.
