Camp time is approaching

It’s hard to believe that we are almost into May.

It’s hard to believe that we are almost into May. This means that we are counting down the days to our annual Grade 8 camp, which will take place the last week of May. The Grade 8 students are already preparing and planning for the upcoming adventure. This past Monday, there was a Grade 8 camp meeting for parents. The meeting was an opportunity for parents to get all the information needed and ask questions to ensure everyone is prepared for this fun event.

The last set of parent teacher interviews for this school year was held last Thursday. Contact the teacher if you missed interviews and would like to meet.

Our staff attended the PD day on Tuesday, April 22. They spent time learning about the direction the new curriculum, Inspiring Education, will be going.

The Hunter Education course wrapped up this past Thursday and it was a great success. Students that took part enjoyed their time in the course with Mr. Peters and found it well worth their time.

The bands did a great job performing at festival this year. They all walked away with A’s or Honors. A huge “congratulations” goes out to Mr. Rahn and all his students.

Now Mr. Rahn is working with the students in preparation for Night of the Bands, which will take place on Tuesday, June 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Centre. The band classes from grades six to 12 will be performing, so it will be another great night of entertainment.

This Friday, SMS will be hosting the last dance of the year. It will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Today our Grade 7 and 8 students will be taking part in the C.A.R.A. badminton tournament. The event starts after school and takes place in all three gyms of the complex. Come out and cheer on our players!

Y-CAT would like to send a special thank you to the high school cafeteria for the amazing burgers and fries they provided as a part of our hot lunch program. They would also like to congratulate the contest winners for the “Guess the Easter Close-ups”.

Congratulations Grade 6 students!
