Byemoor students enjoy nature trip

The grades 4-6 students from the Byemoor School took a science field trip to the Rocky Mountain House area last Monday.

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- Byemoor School students are taking swimming lessons in Stettler for three weeks. B.J. Smith is the driver of the swimming bus.

Endiang’s Winnie Paulsen was thrilled with her early birthday present in honour of her upcoming 80th birthday. Her family treated her to a trip to Seattle to attend three Toronto Blue Jays games against the Seattle Mariners. To make it better, the Jays won two of the three games. Winnie was accompanied by eight members of her family and had a fantastic time.

Another local family also travelled to Seattle to take in the Blue Jays games. Donnie and Blanche Johnson, along with their daughters and families Stacie and Travis Hickle, Darla and Eric Borrowman and all the grandchildren, enjoyed a special family event of taking in the major league games as well. They also reported a great time in Seattle.

The grades 4-6 students from the Byemoor School took a science field trip to the Rocky Mountain House area last Monday. They went to the Des Crossley Demonstration Forest where they gained much knowledge about identifying trees, determining tree age, and the use of compasses, temperature readers and diameter tapes. They helped perform a tree core and learned how squirrels impact forests and all the ways humans use forests. It sounds like it was an informative trip.

The Grant Paulsen Memorial Skeet Shoot will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Winnie Paulsen farm. Cost is $50 per shooter. All are welcome and non-shooters are also welcome to come and enjoy a visit and beef-on-a-bun. All proceeds go to the Alberta Hunter Education Instructor Association as Grant was a strong advocate of proper firearm use.

A joint memorial service will be held for LaVonne Nixon and her daughter Donna Brow on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Senior Circle hall in Hanna.

LaVonne passed away on Sept. 7 at the age of 98 and Donna passed away on Thursday, Sept. 15 at age 75.

Playschool in Byemoor started last Monday. Paige Jones is the instructor once again.

Some local ladies attended the bridal shower for Lacey Gutsche in Hanna on Sunday afternoon. She was showered with many beautiful gifts. Lacey and Ashton Halabut will be married on Oct. 22 in Camrose.

Get-well wishes go out to Eleanor Schultz who is recuperating from a broken arm. We hope your recovery is speedy, Eleanor.

Several local rodeo fans took in the 30th annual Hanna Indoor Pro-Rodeo on the weekend.
