Byemoor School celebrates an early Remembrance Day

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- Curling season in Byemoor is gearing up to start soon. Square draws will be held Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m. Ladies curling will be Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m.

All skill levels are welcome and everyone is welcome to come out and have some fun with the Byemoor Curling Club.

The bonspiels have been set — Ladies Bonspiel will be Jan. 5 - 6, the Men's Bonspiel will be Jan. 30 - Feb. 4 and the Mixed Closing Bonspiel is set for March 14 - 18, 2017.

Endmoor Drop-In Centre crib results for the past two weeks are: Oct. 27 — 1st (tie) - Doug Harrold and Deanna Johnson, 2nd – Shirley Bates.

Nov. 3 — 1st (tie) – Deanna Johnson and Eleanor Schultz, 2nd – Gladys McLeod.

Crib goes every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre, with everyone welcome.

Nolan and DeAnna Groundwater enjoyed a vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to enjoy some warmth and sunshine.

Byemoor School marked Remembrance Day early with a ceremony at the school on Thursday, Nov. 3 as there is no school from Nov. 9 – 11. Officials from the Cadets and Legion in Stettler were in attendance.

Byemoor School will once again be filling shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. They will be packing the shoe boxes on Tuesday, Nov. 15; starting at 2:15 p.m. Donations of school supplies, hygiene items and toys and other gifts are welcome. Each shoe box requires $7 to ship, so monetary donations are also very welcome.

November finally brought good harvest weather so the farmers were able to get back to combining their crops. Most farmers cannot recall a year before that they combined in four months — August, September, October and November. Harvest was a long, drawn-out affair this year.

Several local folks took in the Halkirk turkey supper on Sunday, it was delicious as usual.
