Byemoor gets a new resident

Endiang Enterprise

The district has been enjoying some nice spring weather. The spring thaw has been slow this year and much of the moisture has been soaking into the land with the run-off less than expected relative to the amount of snow that had accumulated over winter.

Congratulations to Dixie Jones and Curtis Zorn of Lloydminster on the birth of their son Holden Raymond Zorn on April 4 in Edmonton, weighing 8 lb. 14 oz. Congratulations to the local grandparents Mark and Julie Jones and great-grandma Anna Jones.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Ruth Hunt who passed away April 8 at the age of 93 years. Ruth was the only daughter of Harold and Florence Hunt who were among the earliest settlers of the Endiang area. Ruth was the granddaughter of William Foreman who named Endiang. Ruth Hunt married Wilf Hunt and they farmed one mile north of Endiang until selling to Ervin and Ruby Hausher and moving to a ranch west of Airdrie in 1946. Ruth lived on this ranch up to the time of her death. She had a love for the land, nature, ranching and rural life. She had a vision of having a retirement home built in the country so that rural folks would not have to move to the city for senior home care. She donated 20 acres of land from her ranch for this project. When it becomes a reality rural seniors can enjoy a retirement home in a country setting with a view of nature and wide open spaces. This will be a fitting legacy for this remarkable woman.

Dave and Betty Nixon celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house and program at the Byemoor hall on Sunday afternoon. Many relatives and friends were in attendance to wish them well. Congratulations on this very special milestone, Dave and Betty, and best wishes for many more to come.
