Two teams from the Endmoor Floor Curling Club participated in the Stettler bonspiel at The Hub on Sept. 25.

Competing were the teams of Doug Harrold, Rosemary Stulberg, Luann Buchwitz and Rachael Boertien as well as Marj Sorensen, Karyn Tateson, Janice Hoover and Deanna Johnson.

Some local folks attended the 80th Birthday Celebration for Doug Carmichael at the Tees Hall on Sept. 28. Doug was a former Byemoor resident before relocating to Tees. Congratulations on your special milestone and best wishes for many more, Doug.

Floor curling has resumed for the fall season with the first games held on Sept. 30 at the Endiang Hall. Floor curling is held every Monday at 1 p.m. at the Endiang Hall and new members of any age are most welcome to join in.

We extend sympathy to the family of Helen Gutsche who passed away on Sept. 27 in Stettler at the age of 96 years. Helen was a long-time resident of the Endiang community where she and her late husband Herb farmed.

They raised a family of four children –Edwin, Marlene, Raymond and Sylvia. Herb and Helen were very involved in the community.

Herb and Helen retired from the farm and moved to Hanna where they spent several years. Just recently Helen moved to Stettler to be nearer family.

Helen will be long remembered for being a good neighbour, for her love of cooking –especially her German specialties and her love of family. Our thoughts are with the Gutsche and Fercho families in their loss of this remarkable lady.

The Sunday morning Coffee Get-togethers are starting up again at the Endiang Community Hall. The first of the season will be held on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Endiang Hall. Everyone is welcome to come and catch up with your neighbours.

The Endiang Cemetery Club had an emergency meeting on Sept. 27.

Discussion was held on replacing the equipment that was recently stolen as well as replacing the doors on the storage shed that the culprits had destroyed.

The club is short of funds; however, a fundraising campaign has started accepting monetary donations to assist with the replacements.

Rural communities are known to rally behind those in need. There are still a lot of good people in the world and it is hoped those who can will support the cemetery with a monetary donation.

Any donation, large or small, would be gratefully accepted and may be mailed to Endiang Cemetery Club, Box 321, Endiang, AB  T0J 1G0.

Many of Dot Wasdal’s family joined her on Sept. 27 in Stettler to help her celebrate her 97th Birthday. Happy Birthday Dot, we hope you had a wonderful day.

Humour for the Day —

“I only sing in the car when it is going in reverse. I am a backup singer.”

“I’m going to put Memory Foam insoles in my shoes, so when I walk into a room I remember what I went there for.”

“Why do people say ‘Heads Up’ when you should duck?”

“Why do we press harder on the remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?’

“Not to brag or anything but I can forget what I’m doing while I’m doing it.”
