Congratulations to all the graduates of Wm. E. Hay Secondary Campus in Stettler. The ceremonies were held on June 22.
Three local boys were among the graduates, Cash Buchwitz (son of Lane and Bobbi Buchwitz), Brady Mappin (son of Brad and Terri Mappin) and Coy Schilling (son of Ryan and Tara Schilling).
Congratulations Cash, Brady and Coy and good luck with all your future endeavours.
Some local folks attended the Farmers’ Appreciation Night hosted by the Rotary Club of Stettler on June 17 in Stettler.
Presentations were made to the recipients of the Rotary Agriculture Scholarship program by the local sponsors.
Byemoor’s Ryder Buchwitz was among the recipients of a scholarship, along with Rayell Haustein, Erskine; Colby Norman, Donalda and Chase Robinson, Big Valley.
The Rotary Exchange Student Johannes Hess from Germany also spoke. The evening also included a dinner and entertainment in its salute to farmers.
Jean Mappin and her daughter Kathleen Terra returned home June 18 from a European vacation of more than two weeks.
Their trip began with touring Rome, Italy. They also visited the Cassino War Cemetery in Italy where Jean’s uncle Private Hans Bauman is among the more than 4,200 allied soldiers who lost their lives in the Second World War are laid to rest.
Jean and Kathleen also visited Switzerland, the homeland of Jean’s Bauman side of the family and were impressed by how beautiful that country is.
A river cruise from Germany to Amsterdam was also a trip highlight of a very delightful holiday.
The trip celebrated Jean’s 80th birthday, which she marked earlier this year.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Betty Kobi who passed away on June 15 in Stettler at 91 years of age.
Betty and her late husband Edwin Kobi farmed west of Byemoor for many years where they raised their family of three – Karen, Dwayne and Kayleen.
After selling the farm they moved to Stettler. Our thoughts are with all of Betty’s family in their loss. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the Byemoor Cemetery, Box 61 Byemoor, AB T0J 0L0.
Dale and Dee Green are home from 5 days at Fairmont, B.C. where they enjoyed camping and the Hot Springs.
Keep in mind the upcoming Bridal Showers for Ashley Keith, bride-to-be of Wyatt Smith, on July 20 at 1 p.m. at the Byemoor Hall and for Makayla Enns, future bride of Wyatt Kent, on July 20 at 2 p.m. at the Big Valley Drop-In Centre.
