The first annual Ken Schultz Memorial Funspiel was held on March 20 at the Endiang Community Hall.
The floor curling bonspiel drew 40 players from various communities and teams were formed mixing players from the different communities.
Winning top spot in the funspiel was the team skipped by Dennis Turre with team members Doreen Nixon, Deanna Johnson and Karyn Tateson. Congratulations to all. Five members of Ken Schultz’s family came and participated in the bonspiel even though many had not floor curled before.
Every curler went home with a prize and many were also lucky enough to win one of the raffle prizes.
Congratulations to the Endmoor Thunder U11 hockey team on winning the CAHL Tier 3 Championship. They clinched the title in Lethbridge on March 25 in a game against Coaldale. The team is made up of players from Byemoor, Endiang and Big Valley. These small communities are small, but mighty. The team was coached by Dan Brown, Gage Hutton and Chase Walker.
The Byemoor Snowmobile Poker Rally sponsored by the Sullivan Lake West Agricultural Society on March 26 was a tremendous success with 103 snowmobiles participating, carrying 185 poker hands. Congratulations to Eldon Stewart for having the winning hand.
The route circled around through the Byemoor – Endiang communities, starting and ending at the arena in Byemoor. The day turned out great weather-wise; ample snow cover remaining allowed for a fun event to wind up winter. Thanks to the organizers and participants for making it a success.
The Byemoor Hotel is for sale. This may interest any entrepreneur who has a desire to own a business of their own away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The recently renovated hotel is a hub in the community and has been in business for nearly 100 years.
It is currently operated by Joyce Campbell and her family. Any interested parties may contact Mike Roberts at Royal LePage in Stettler at 403-740-4781.
