Byemoor arena ready for skaters

The ice is in the arena in Byemoor and ready for skaters.

Endmoor Drop-In Centre hosted a successful crib tournament on Nov. 1 at the centre with 28 players turning out for the tournament. Winners were: 1. Doug Harrold, 2. Ryan Gallagher, 3. Janice Waugh, 4. Eileen Green and 5. Earl Ortman.

“Country Christmas” mini-trade show was held at the Byemoor Hotel on Nov. 4. The lucky door prize winners were Kate Woelk, Deanna Johnson, Janet Campbell, Joni Hutton, Roberta Young, Jody Sunstrum, Luann Buchwitz and Paige Jones.

Carly Christie recently completed her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Carly spent six years in studies to achieve her degree — two years each in Medicine Hat, Lethbridge and Calgary. She was honoured by her family with a celebration party at the Byemoor Hotel on Nov. 3. Carly has employment in Medicine Hat. That is an awesome achievement, Carly.

Carly is the younger daughter of Brian and Theresa Christie of Endiang.

Byemoor School students attended a Remembrance Service at the Botha School on Nov. 7. The students participated in a service led by the Stettler Legion, heard a presentation by current Canadian Armed Forces member Bombardier Mee, wrote postcards to Veterans, watched a Remembrance video, made a craft and wrapped up with milk and cookies.

Club DJ church program had its first gathering on Nov. 4 at the Endiang Hall. It was kicked off with a pancake and sausage supper.

Several members of the Endmoor Drop-In Centre attended the Nov. 7 dinner theatre performance of “Rumours.” The play, a presentation of the Heartland Arts Troupe Society, was held at the Stettler Community Hall and was enjoyed by many.

Keep in mind Santa Claus Day in Byemoor is coming up on Dec. 1. It runs from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Byemoor Hall. Pictures with Santa are at 2 p.m. Christmas trees, great Christmas gift ideas and Christmas baking will be available. To book a table contact Doreen Nixon at 403-579-2460.

Happy 85th Birthday wishes are extended to Endiang’s Lee Hunt on Nov. 9. Lee was honoured with a family celebration at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Jim Wasdal on Nov. 10. Best wishes for many more happy occasions.

Birthday greetings are also sent to Winnie Paulsen, who celebrated her 82nd birthday on Nov. 6.

Happy 52nd Anniversary wishes are sent to Doug and Deanna Johnson who celebrate on Nov. 18.

Be sure to attend Big Valley’s Christmas Craft Show and Sale on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Big Valley Hall. There will lots of crafts, baking and gift ideas for your Christmas shopping list. Admission is by a food bank donation.

Big Valley Inn is hosting a Harvest Party on Nov. 16. The event features a Chicken and Rib Buffet from 5-8 p.m. followed by the entertainment of Free and Easy at 8:30 p.m. Advance tickets are required and five dollars from each ticket sold goes to the Big Valley School exchange trip.

Big Valley Drop-In Centre pancake supper is set for Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the centre.

Mark your calendars for the Big Valley Children’s Christmas Party on Sunday, Dec. 16 at noon at the hall. Everyone is welcome and gifts are arranged for children 10 years and younger. To pre-register call or text Brenda at 403-740-6552 or Catrina at 403-741-7320.
