CHRIST KING CATHOLIC SCHOOL -- October has been a very busy month for Christ King and there is just going to be more events as Halloween gets closer.

On Monday, Oct. 17, Christ King started both their "Guess the Pumpkin Weight" contest and their "Guess How Many Candy Corn is in the Jar" contest to see which students could guess the closest or exact weight of the pumpkin that they had on display for 25 cents and to see which students could guess the correct and exact amount of how many candy corn was in the jar that they had on display for 25 cents. Winners are going to be announced on Monday, Oct. 31, at their Halloween Parade.

Christ King had Mass on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Father Don talked about the importance of finding our own special gift that has been given to us and our responsibility in sharing it with others. As well to always be grateful for what we have been given.

On Thursday, Oct. 20, Christ King's health team travelled to Red Deer for an event called HASS (Healthy Active School Symposium). The event was put together by an organization that is called Ever Active Schools. The team was created so that they could develop a health action plan to increase the overall health of our school and other areas nearby. Students who went to Red Deer participated in fun events that focused on all of the aspects of health, which are mental, physical, social or emotional, and spiritual. The team was also able to collaborate with other health teams from other schools.

Christ King had their Picture Day on Friday, Oct. 21, where students, teachers, and TAs dressed up nicely to have their picture taken. They could not wear anything green, though, since their pictures were going to be taken using the green screen technique and wearing green would blend in with the screen.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, Christ King will be having their Family School Dance, which is sponsored by the parent council. The fun event will take place from 6:30–9:00 p.m. and will be placed in the school's gymnasium. Admission is $5 per family. There will be a silent auction at the dance as well, where people can participate in this event by contributing their time, talent or treasure.
