Busy schedule continues at library

STETTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY -- We want to start by saying that the library is welcoming Fort McMurray evacuees to have free memberships.

STETTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY -- We want to start by saying that the library is welcoming Fort McMurray evacuees to have free memberships and use the technology, resources, comfort and books that our library has to offer. We are also encouraging anyone with fines to come in and pay them and the library will be donating that money to Fort McMurray.

If you are ready to step outside your comfort zone this month and try some new things, then join us at the library for the following activities and days:

Tech Time on Thursday, May 19 at 1-3 p.m. Bring your own device. If you are struggling with using some new or old tech items in your life, then we want you to bring it into the library and we will help you become competent in using it. It could be a computer, tablet, phone, eReader, camera or any other device. We are ready to help, if you are ready to learn.

Make a stamped pendant necklace on Thursday, May 19 at 2 p.m. If you are ages nine and older, then we would love to teach you a new fun way to make a necklace. The chains will be provided and you get to add any initials, word or symbols that you would like. Keep it for yourself or gift it to someone else. Please register at the library by calling 403-742-2292.

Movie Day on Friday, May 20 at 2 p.m. Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy will be showing at the Stettler Public Library for all ages. The movie follows Tinkerbell as she searches for wayward fairy that left to join Captain Hook. Popcorn will be served during the movie.

Origami for Kids with Darlene on Tuesday, May 24 at 4 p.m. All ages welcome to learn how to fold paper using the art of Origami.

Project Wild Thing on Thursday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. Stettler ECD is presenting "Project Wild Thing" at the library. Children's activities will be happening before the showing of the documentary. Popcorn will be served during the screening.

Learn to Crochet 6 on Saturday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. Continue to work on your previous projects or continue to make beautiful and elegant lace trim. Contact the library for more details.

Also, join us for some of our ongoing programs which include the Read and Rhyme on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 for ages 0-5 and Tutoring on Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a certified educator.

Keep an eye out for additional activities on our website (spl.prl.ab.ca) and Facebook page. And if you have an activity you'd like to do/see at the library, feel free to approach us.
