Byemoor and Stettler fire departments responded to a house fire in Byemoor on Friday evening. The fire departments were able to contain and extinguish the blaze in the vacant house, which appears to have considerable damage.

The house is known to many as the former Birkhiem home, situated across the street from the curling rink.

Miles and Lynne Jones are home from an extended stay in Yuma, Arizona. They spent the entire winter enjoying the Arizona sun.

Crib winners at the Endmoor Drop-In Centre on Tuesday evening were Gladys McLeod, first and Doug Harrold, second.

We extend sympathy to the family of Ervin Hausher who passed away in Hanna on March 25 at the age of 90 years. Ervin and his wife Ruby farmed just north of Endiang most of their married life, until retiring to Hanna. Ervin was active in the community, was a long-time school bus driver, played in the local dance band and participated in many local sports.

Ervin’s funeral will be held at the Hanna Catholic Church on April 2 at 11 a.m.

Our thoughts are with Ruby and her family in their time of loss of this fine man.

We send birthday wishes out to a couple of local senior ladies Happy 93rd birthday to Agnes Sorensen on March 30 and Happy 84th birthday to Carol Stulberg on April 2.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter with their families, with lots of food and fun. The weather was certainly good for those who had to travel.

Thoughts for the day “Easter is the only time when it’s perfectly safe to put all your eggs in one basket. All you really need is love, but chocolate once in a while doesn’t hurt.”
