BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- Byemoor Curling Club’s men’s and women’s 20-team bonspiel concluded on Saturday evening with a roast beef supper and presentation of prizes.
Champions of the men’s A event was the team of Gordon Kobi, Shelby Kobi, Jamie Kobi and Neil Morrow of Erskine-Stettler, winning over the Lee Fowler rink of Halkirk. Third in the A went to Kent Holowath’s rink of Rumsey.
B event saw the Cody Rowledge rink of Erskine make the win over Justin Jones of Byemoor. Third went to Byemoor’s John Schofer.
The Tracy Nelson rink of Rumsey took the C event over Duane Davison’s Hanna rink. 3. Allan Norlie, Craigmyle. 4. Dave Nixon, Byemoor.
In the women’s division it was the Rumsey rink of Marj Kiemele, Brittany Cawiezel, Melitta Sorensen and Jana Kiemele who took top honours in the A event over Lindsey Jennings’ Byemoor team.
B event — 1. Carolin Schofer, Byemoor; 2. Nicole Devaleriola, Delia.
C event — 1. Sydney Jack, Byemoor; 2. Kary Lyn Keith, Byemoor.

Lyle and Shannon Knowles and all their family enjoyed a ski trip to Panorama Mountain Village ski resort near Invermere, B.C. They reported a great family time with beautiful scenery and weather.
Endmoor Drop-in Centre crib night winners last Tuesday were, first – Brad Stiles and second – Gladys McLeod.
Don and Leslie Enns enjoyed a warm-destination vacation and family wedding at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic the later part of January.
We extend sympathy to Kirk and Suzanne Sorensen and family on the passing of Suzanne’s grandmother Germaine Brausen on Feb. 4 at 86 years of age. Our thoughts are with the Sorensen family in their loss.
Happy 65th birthday wishes go out to Rick Laak, who celebrated this special milestone on Feb. 6. Enjoy those government cheques, senior Rick.
Congratulations to Eleanor Schultz on celebrating her 80th birthday on the weekend with family members in Calgary. Eleanor was treated to several special events for her milestone birthday, including lunch atop the Calgary Tower.
Keep in mind the Byemoor Hotel’s Valentine party on Saturday, Feb. 13 with the entertainment of Mark Fecho and guests. Note, the party is on Saturday evening, not Friday as previously reported.
The 30th annual Boar’s Cup hockey tournament is set to go this weekend. This long-running, fun men’s tournament is a testament to the strong volunteerism and community spirit of the small Endmoor community to keep this event running so many years. Be sure to come out to the arena in Byemoor and take in some of the hockey action. Games run Friday evening, Saturday and finals on Sunday.
Congratulations to Kaylee Somerville, daughter of Bill and Carol Somerville, on being one of three Alberta girls selected to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York. Bill and Carol also traveled to New York to see Kaylee’s Feb. 7 group performance. She was one of 750 high school vocalists selected from more than 18,000 applications from across the U.S. and Canada.
Congratulations to Ken Gallagher on the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Sandra Dawn born on Feb. 6 and weighing six pounds 12 ounces. Proud parents are Brooklyn Gallagher and Logan Lacrosse-Sinclair and proud grandparents are Kerri Gallagher and Kevin Bunning.
Remember the 70th birthday celebration for Marjorie Sorensen at the Endiang Hall on Feb. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. with birthday cake served at 2 p.m.
