Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to a former Byemoor resident, George Knowles, now of Calgary, who celebrated his 101st birthday on June 15. George was raised southwest of Byemoor on the Sunmound Ranch. He was the oldest of 10 children born to Bill and Eva Knowles.

Congratulations on this very special milestone birthday, George. The community sends its best wishes.

The floor curling club in Endiang suffered some bad luck recently. They sent their wood floor curling rocks away to be refinished. The home-based business doing the work was in the person’s garage, which unfortunately burned down, and everything was lost.  Luckily, the club did source some used rocks from a club in Lacombe that is no longer active. This was a fortunate find, as new floor curling rocks are no longer available.

Byemoor School held its annual Spring Concert on June 13, and the gymnasium was packed with families and community members to enjoy the program. The new teachers, Esther Nooijen and Ryan Colean were introduced to the community.

The kindergarten class had their graduation at the concert. Congratulations to Will Bunney, Mason Hallett, Orrin James, John Jones and Ellyn McKeil on moving on to Grade 1 this fall.

Alerie celebrated her Grade 9 Farewell with family, friends and past and present teachers on June 19 at the Sorensen farm. Best of luck in high school, Brielle.

The “Endiang Girls” held their annual camping get-together at Wolf Hill during the week of June 16 – 20. The girls who grew up together in the hamlet of Endiang in the 1960s, Dolores (Ballinger), Debbie (Boehlke), Joanne (Boehlke) and Jane (Simpson) still enjoy reuniting each summer. They missed their friend Lynda (Walker) Wilkie this year, who was unable to attend.

Taking part in the campout were Dolores and Gary Pearson (the hosts), Debbie and Ron Grover, Joanne Boehlke and Jane Kobi and Doug Carmichael.

Annabel O’Dea from Australia, who is working on the Eric and Maureen Smith and Albert and Jean Mappin farm, has her parents visiting for three weeks. Annabel will tour her parents, Dennis and Robyn O’Dea from Adelaide, Australia, to many of Alberta’s most popular tourist destinations, but the Byemoor farm will be the home base during the visit.

The Endmoor district started receiving much-needed rain beginning the end of last week. However, the rain has been spotty, with amounts varying greatly. Some areas south of Endiang and south of Scapa also received hail, with a few places reporting considerable damage to buildings and vehicles. More rain is needed, but without hail next time.

High School Graduation exercises are coming up for some former Byemoor students. Graduating at Wm. E. Hay in Stettler on June 20 are Leland Dittman, Emma Jack and Rylee Jones.

Leland is the son of Jennifer Knowles and Corey Dittman, Emma is the daughter of Rod and Krissy Jack, and Rylee is the daughter of Adam and Paige Jones.

Graduating from Delia High School on June 27 is Callie Tucker. Callie is the daughter of Dwight and Heather Tucker.

Congratulations to all the graduates on their graduation and best wishes with their future studies.

Keep in mind the Bridal Shower for Elizabeth Strang, bride-to-be of Gunnar Keith, on Saturday, June 20, at 2 p.m. at the Byemoor Community Hall. Ladies, please bring lunch and your favourite recipe.
