Big Valley to host Paint'n'Sip

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov. 19 and come by the Big Valley Community Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to check out this popular annual event. The Friends of the Big Valley Library have a full calendar of events scheduled for the next few weeks. First was their Volunteer Appreciation Tea last Sunday, Oct. 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the Big Valley Library. Quite a few volunteers came out for tea and cake as the Friends saluted the many volunteers whose efforts make library programs possible. Long-time volunteer, Christine Countryman was recognized for her many years as a library volunteer, children's craft instructor and gardener.

On Thursday, Oct. 27, the Friends are hosting the free educational workshop, "Diabetes the Basics" at the Big Valley Train Station from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration for this workshop is required. On Tuesday, Nov. 1 children and caregivers of the "Rhymes That Bind" group will be meeting at the Big Valley Library for a special visit. Friends of the Library will be providing snacks and members of the Big Valley Ukulele Group have agreed to provide the entertainment.

On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Friends of the Big Valley Library will be at the Big Valley Christmas Craft Show and Sale. Stop by their table to discover what new and interesting programming events they may have lined up for the future.

Paint 'n Sip is coming to Big Valley. The Big Valley Painting Group will host a Paint 'n Sip project, "raven on black canvas", on Saturday, Nov.12 from 7-9 p.m. at the Big Valley Inn. Please pre-register for this event. For more information, contact Rose at 403-741-9800.

Thirty-one people attended Big Valley Hall Board Bingo last Thursday evening. The Progressive Jackpot was not won so it is still building up. Sydney Simpson took home the consolation. The Bonanza winner was Dorothy Dressler with the consolation going to Bob Sinclair. With no winner, the Loonie pot continues to grow. The next bingo will be on Thursday, Oct. 27. Warm up starts at 7:30 p.m. Come on out and join the fun!
