Big Valley marksmen in regional success

This past summer, David Johnston of Big Valley, competed in a rifle marksmanship event at the Rosebud Range, located near Sibald Flats, west of Calgary. He scored in the top third among all competitors in the provincial High Power Silhouette Championship.

More recently, at the Canadian National Silhouette Championships, held near Kamloops, B.C., David scored in the top third among sharpshooters from Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Washington State, North West Territories, and the Yukon. Congratulations.

According to Sharon Mahoney, Margaret Dietz, a longtime Big Valley resident (more recently of Willow Creek), has now moved to St. Albert, Alberta to be near her daughter. Her new phone number is 780-418-5447.

The most recent donations include adult fiction, westerns and a wonderful collection of new children’s books.

We would also like to thank the members of the Big Valley Memorial Golf Tournament for their latest, generous financial donation.

The next board meeting of the Big Valley Municipal Library will be on Monday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall.

The family literacy based program, “1, 2, 3, Sing With Me” is starting up again after the summer break.
