BIG VALLEY NEWS - The Big Valley 4-H Beef Club had another successful show and sale. Shelby Sobchyshyn won grand champion steer in the whole district, which is a great accomplishment for her first year in 4-H. The Big Valley Club had great success in all the classes at the district level, including the pen of five award.

Some of the Big Valley members who won district awards were: Top overall two-year-0ld female – Levi Martin; top yearling heifer – Trinity Martin; rate of gain – William Brown; top carcass steer – Aughtum Wilkie and Jacob Webster; junior team grooming – Eric Elines and Levi Martin; junior showmanship – Eric Elines; junior judging – Levi Martin; intermediate team Ggrooming – Faith Shuckburgh and Trinity Martin; intermediate judging – Zachary Duncan and Jessie Armstrong.

The members of the Big Valley Club would like to thank the buyers who helped to support them.

Big Valley School Grade 7-9 students were excited to have their Ontario "twins" visiting last week. Monday and Tuesday were spent camping in Banff with trips to Drumheller and Edmonton midweek. On Friday, the students and their twins were out and about the village participating in a scavenger hunt. The students attempted to give their twins a glimpse of what Big Valley community spirit looks like. Thank you to all the parents who have helped support this great experience.

The Big Valley United Church will host a special service on Sunday, June 26 celebrating summer with homemade ice cream and games.

The Big Valley Art Group is hosting an information session on Wednesday, June 15 beginning at 10 a.m. at the train station. Come out for an informative session with Andrea Hatch, owner of Cabinet of Curiosities in Stettler. Andrea will be discussing different quality of canvasses, paints, brushes and other important information for the budding painter.

The Lakeview Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, is hosting their Summer Vacation Bible School for all children ages five to 12 during the week of July 18 to 22. There will be Bible stories and verses, colouring, interactive crafts, singing and supervised playground games. Registration is Monday, July 18 at 8:45 a.m. and VBS will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day during the week.
