Big camp at Schultz farm next weekend

BYEMOOR/ENDIANG NEWS -- Ken and Eleanor Schultz are hosting their 34th annual campout weekend and pancake breakfast at their farm south of Endiang on July 22-24. The Schultz family extends an invitation to all who would like to attend all or part of their weekend of activities.

Camping goes all weekend along with fireworks on Saturday evening.

Sunday morning is the pancake breakfast and the 13th annual Great Endiang Balloon Race launch. This is followed by the Frisbee golf tournament and a potluck supper.

We received a message from former Byemoor resident Betty (Baird) Dick, daughter of the late John and May Baird, who had some exciting news about her grandson Kody McQuillan. Kody is the 18-year-old son of Sherry and Darcy McQuillan of Sylvan Lake.

Kody is among those representing Canada at the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in Atlanta, Georgia. He was one of 150 participants selected from the 800 that auditioned. The Canadian contingent will be playing throughout the southern USA on this trip.

Kody has been playing with the Red Deer Royals Marching Band for six years.

It is great to see young people pursuing interests such as this. It will be an unforgettable experience for Kody.

Local cattleman, Dave Longshore was in Nebraska, USA last week on a business trip.

The district received a nice rain on Saturday evening great for grain crops, pastures and gardens but not exactly needed for haying operations. Rain this time of year is always a double-edged sword, but usually welcome.

It is time to start thinking about the Byemoor Fair coming up on August 19-21. The parade theme this year is “Small Towns Rock” so it’s not too early to be thinking of your parade entries.

The Sullivan Lake Agricultural Society is looking for donations and sponsors for the fireworks on the Friday night. Contact Rhonda Hutton at 403-579-2135 if you can help out with that or help decorate the Ag. Society float.

Rebecca Schofer is managing the Kids’ Carnival on the Saturday from noon until 3 p.m. at the fair. She is looking for donations and volunteers to help run the carnival. She may be reached at 403-334-2248.

Jesse and Sydney Jack played in the Provincial girls’ softball tournament with the Hanna Yellowjackets team on the weekend at Elkford, B.C. Congratulations to Jesse on being named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
