The Stettler wing of Big Brothers Big Sisters appears to be in good hands.

The Stettler wing of Big Brothers Big Sisters appears to be in good hands.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stettler has received word it was granted accreditation for successfully meeting the review standards outlined by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

The local organization has served the Stettler community for more than 30 years and says it’s committed to providing children “with quality mentoring relationships with volunteers.”

Heartland Youth Centre board chair Leann Graham believes in the strict guidelines governing the organization.

“I appreciate the stringent guidelines that the Big Brothers Big Sisters program follows in order to become accredited,” Graham said in a news release. “This process assures me that maximum child and volunteer safety policies are in place and enables me to volunteer with the confidence that not only my little sister’s safety, but also my own, is top priority.”

She has been a Big Sister for the past five years.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stettler has 12 children on its waiting list, needing a mentorship match. The group seeks more volunteers to fill the void.
