Basketball, Valentine's and ski trips

Last week at Wm. E Hay Stettler Secondary Campus, report cards came out on Feb. 1 for senior high and Feb. 5 for junior high.

WILDCATS' CORNER -- Last week at Wm. E Hay Stettler Secondary Campus, report cards came out on Monday, Feb. 1 for senior high, and Friday, Feb. 5 for junior high.

The basketball season has really kicked off. Here is the schedule for the Junior High teams. Today, Feb. 10, the Stettler 2 Girls will play at Big Valley while the Stettler 1 team will be at Erskine. Next week, the Stettler 2 team will be at Theresetta. On Feb. 17 the Byemoor boys will be facing the Stettler 2 team. The junior high girls' Team 1 goes to Forestburg, and junior high Team 2 goes to Hunting Hills for tournaments on Feb. 12 and 13.

The JV girls in the senior high are undefeated so far. The JV girls basketball team won the Camrose Tournament they participated in this weekend. They play today, Feb. 10, against Rocky Mountain House here in Stettler. Feb. 12 and 13 is a JV tournament in Wetaskiwin. On Feb. 17 Stettler will be at Ponoka, but it is only for the boys. Archery is also very popular in the senior high. They meet Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30, and Fridays from 2:30 to 3:30.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, our school will be hosting a Valentine's Day winter carnival on Feb. 12 at the school for kids of all ages. Come out between 5 and 8 p.m. to have some Valentine's Day fun. Some events that will be there are a bouncy castle, live musical chairs, balloon animals, bean bag toss with drunk goggles, cake walk and much more. Hope to see you there.

Crush Week will run Feb. 8 to 12 to celebrate Valentine's Day. Our students' union will be selling different flavoured Crush pop to individuals that wish to give them out to their friends. The pop will be delivered on Friday, Feb. 12 to the students by student union members.

In the drama department, the Improv team will be participating in the Canadian Improv games. This will take place tomorrow Thursday, Feb. 11.

The New Orleans Band trip is on their final individual fundraiser. Orders for Coco Brooks frozen goods have been handed out to all students. They will be due back on Feb. 18; happy selling! A chaperone meeting will be held this month, so keep your eyes posted for that.

In the junior high, they have been going skiing. They will head to Canyon tomorrow, Feb. 11 from 2:15 to 9 p.m. The big Nakiska trip will be on Feb. 25 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. In the senior high, there will be a school ski trip on March 15. The deadline to submit forms to the office is Feb. 19. Spots are limited.
