All encouraged to attend minor hockey AGM

The Big Valley Legion's annual St Patrick's Stew Day saw a turnout of 50 people attending and enjoying a variety of excellent stews.

BIG VALLEY BULLETIN -- The Big Valley Legion's annual St Patrick's Stew Day saw a turnout of 50 people attending and enjoying a variety of excellent stews. Thanks to all who helped in any way to make this day another success. A big pat on the back to all the ladies for their culinary prowess. Winners of the small raffle were Dorothy Dressler and Bill Caan. Thank you all, neighbors and friends, for your support. The Big Valley Legion will hold their next regular meeting on Monday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Big Valley Minor Hockey will hold their annual general meeting this Thursday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Big Valley arena. The agenda will include discussions regarding fundraising, league play, player numbers and financials. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend to make their voice heard.

The junior high students at Big Valley School will be holding a battery drive to raise funds for their upcoming S.E.V.E.C. trip. S.E.V.E.C. is a student exchange program which allows students to go to new places and meet new people. Big Valley students will be going to Ontario in April and the Ontario students will be visiting Big Valley in June. The students will be collecting car and heavy equipment batteries for recycling from April 4 to April 20. Batteries can be dropped off at the school on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. or you can call the school at 403-876-2271 to arrange a time for pick up. Thank you for your support.

Fourteen players came out for crib at the Big Valley Inn on Sunday, March 13. Mary Wilkie won first place, Teresa Greig won second, Doug Harrold won third and Dorothy Annable took home the booby. Gloria Emblau won the regular draw. There is no crib on Easter Sunday, March 27.

There were 25 people in attendance at Hall Board bingo on Thursday, March 10. The progressive jackpot was not won. The consolation went to Doug Harrold and Gladys McLeod. The bonanza winner was Bob Sinclair and the consolation went to Donna D'Aoust. The loonie pot is still building. Big Valley Hall Board bingo is held every Thursday with warm-up at 7:30 p.m. Come out and join the fun.

The Big Valley United Church Easter worship services are on Good Friday, March 25 with the Erskine United Church Choir at 7 p.m. and on Easter Sunday, March 27 at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
