A surprising phone call

Congratulations to Tyler and Michelle Chick on the birth of their son, Joshua Michael, on March 29 in Calgary hospital, weighing seven pounds seven ounces, a brother for Caleb. Proud grandparents are Greg and Nancy Chick of Gadsby and Mike and Sarah Ward of Calgary, as well as great grandparents, Janet and Lowell Berry.

Get well wishes to Wilma Glasier, who is spending a few days in Stettler Hospital.

Donna McKay and the Red Hat Society ladies entertained residents at Willow Creek on Thursday afternoon, followed by an evening at the Stettler Community Hall at the dinner theatre.

Donna had overnight company on Wednesday when her brother David and Annie Donaldson and their grandchildren Sharlyn and Colin dropped in on their way home to Fort Saint John B.C. from a trip to Manitoba.

Jim and Ethel Baird enjoyed grandson Kyle Baird on Sunday. Kyle brought over 500 pictures of his recent three month trip to Thailand, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos and finally Australia. He met a lot of wonderful people and enjoyed the different cultures along the way. He saw cows tethered in the yard, rice growing and chickens running loose. Kyle was home to help Ethel celebrate her birthday. Happy birthday, Ethel.

David and Sandy Nichols and their four boys, Glenn and Amy Kobi and their four girls, along with friends Miles and Kelly and their three children enjoyed a week of family skiing where the weather was great and they enjoyed their spring break. They traveled home in not such good weather on Saturday, through the Calgary area blizzard, but arrived home safely.

The Gadsby District Hobby Club supper and bingo will be held April 16 at the Bank Building with Easter ham and potato salad on the menu, along with hot brownie sundae for dessert. Supper is from 5 to 7 p.m. Come, enjoy a night out. And cash bingo starts at 7:30 with the loonie pot well over $100.

The Gadsby District Hobby Club has a major project. They are beginning this spring. The north wall needs a lot of work and the brick on that side must go. Anyone interested in getting some brick (maybe for an outdoor BBQ, patio project of a souvenir of Gadsby) please contact myself at 403-574-2442.

Paulette Heer had a surprise two hour phone call from New York state this weekend, from a cousin she had never met: Richard Snyder, the son of the late Harold Snyder and grandson of the late Roy and Edith Snyder (Botha) phoned looking for Hankins family information; a very informative and interesting conversation.
