During the week, there will be two out trips, the first to Drumheller to check out the Royal Tyrrell Museum and Fossil World, and the second one will be to Red Deer to swim at Collicutt and take in a movie at carnival. Weird Science is on the hunt for some microscope slides with interesting specimens on them, or just a few blank ones so they can make some slides of their own. If you, or someone you know, has a few kicking around in the attic that have not been looked at in years, the kids would love to make use of them.

Kidpower had a rip roaring good time learning how to be cowboys and cowgirls last week, complete with a barn dance and roping. The roping calves some what resembled spotted milk jugs but that didn’t seem to lessen their friskiness. Everyone had a great time and finished up with a western theme treasure hunt, always a fun way to wind up a day.

Spark, Energy and Boost had the week off, due to the teachers’ convention, but are looking to have a awesome come back this week with a large range of fun activities, from the kitchen to the beautiful outdoors. For more information on programs or to find out more about volunteer opportunities, contact the center at 742-KIDS(5437).

Listening is such a simple act. It requires us to be present, and that takes practice, but we don’t have to do anything else. We don’t have to advise, or coach, or sound wise. We just have to be willing to sit there and listen. - Margaret J. Wheatley
