A great motorhome trip to BC and US

Once again it’s Calgary Stampede time, which usually means thunderstorms and rain.

GADSBY/WESTWOODS NEWS -- Once again it’s Calgary Stampede time, which usually means thunderstorms and rain.

Cody and Curtis Cassidy made the showdown in Ponoka. Curtis won the steer wrestling at Williams Lake Stampede and now the boys are in Calgary. Curtis is in Pool A; Cody in Pool B both in steer wrestling. Good luck to both.

Gloria and Stan Diegel are home from holidays. They, along with Richelle and Greg Skocdopole and family took off in Gloria’s newly purchased motorhome for B.C. They left June 28, heading first through Golden, on to Kelowna, Penticton then south, across the boarder to Spokane and on to Missoula (Montana). In Kelowna, they stopped at a kangaroo farm where the kids got to hold the babies wrapped in blankets. They discovered the small town of “Wallace” between Spokane and Missoula. This was a little mining town. They decided to stay overnight and take the tour through the mine; very worthwhile. They even enjoyed a short but sweet 4th of July parade there; on to White Fish and the winter ski resort where the kids (even the adult kids) had a blast on the lounge style slide, taking the ski lift up. Everyone took in the gondola, the kids the go carts; home on July 6, in time to help celebrate Sadie’s 16th birthday; Eva & Ella’s sixth birthday with a family gathering at Arden and Deanne’s with most of the family there; grandparents Gloria and Stan; Donna and Ron Beier; aunty Heather, Charlotte and Noah.

Sincere sympathies to Elsie and Don Yates and family on the passing of Elsie’s dad, William “Willie” Stewart, who passed away July 2 in Stettler. He was just a few month’s short of his 100th birthday. Willie was a gentle man loved and respected by all who knew him. Sympathies to his wife Norma and all the family including nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
