A great bonspiel held

A total of 29 teams registered for a week of curling at the Erskine men’s bonspiel.

First event winners on the A side were John Armstrong, Brady Armstrong, Ray Davisson and Mike Webster.

The other winners in the A event were in second place Brian Mose, third place Hans Bauman and fourth place Mark Higgins.

Second event winners were first place Donnie Bonham, second Steve Armstrong, third Clint Wells and fourth Keith Anderson.

Third event team winners were first Eric Haustein, second Agro, third Greg Thompson and fourth Derwin Deems.

Fourth event team winners were first Richie Chapman, second Stan Carlson, third Pheasantback and fourth Art Costigan.

Thanks to all sponsors and donors who helped make the bonspiel fun and rewarding.

Erskine United Church spring supper is on April 10 at 5:30 p.m. Call Janet Rowledge for more information. Tickets are available at the post office.

Stettler Public Library will be running an afterschool library program for all Erskine students every Friday from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. There will be no charge and this is a drop-in program. The after-school program starts on April 8.

The Erskine school Wrestlers attended the Western Canadian Youth Championships on Saturday March 12 in Cochrane, Alberta.

Erskine wrestlers brought home gold medal that weekend. Tim Gardner was nominated for outstanding bantam wrestler and won gold. Our other gold medalists were Luke Poffenroth, Kurtis Poffenroth and Carlie Gendre.

Silver medalists were Justin Matchett and Brandon Marshall and bronze Medalists Tyler Matchett. Darren Gendre came in fifth. Congratulations, Erskine wrestlers, for doing so well at the competition.

Spring Break starts March 28 and runs through till April 4 back to school.

We can always hope the snow will melt away for that one. I did see snowmobilers out yesterday enjoying all the fresh snow, so somebody was enjoying it.

April 11 is come meet the teacher night for ECS registration at Erskine school. Doors are open at 6:30 p.m. at the Erskine Library.

Erskine Evangelical Church is hosting a gospel concert this Saturday Mar. 26 at 7 p.m. at the church. The group performing is “Glory Bound” and the event is free for all who would like to attend with any donations accepted.
