Gadsby/Westwoods

A busy time in the Gadsby area with Seniors Week. The county, in conjunction with the Village of Gadsby, presented our seniors with a fruit tray. County councilor Greggory Jackson thanked the seniors and commended them on the path they set for the next generation of volunteers they raised. Over 20 people were there to enjoy the day.

Volunteers are needed to help with the Gadsby ball diamond playground. A work bee will take place on June 23, 24 and 25. Lunch will be provided. Anyone wanting to help, please phone Leasyl at 403-574-2171. Also, they have dirt and clay to give away and need it removed. Anyone interested in this should also contact Leasyl.

The Red Eye Tournament is fast approaching. There are still teams needed to have this even so please contact Richelle to sign up.

Gordon and Shirley Reynolds, along with Joyce and Bill Hansel, drove to Byemoor to attend Bev and Happy Davis’ 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday evening. Then on Sunday, Joyce and Bill headed to Capraye Lake, this side of Cadogan where they met with family and friends at daughter Mary Lou and Stan Botting’s cabin to help celebrate great-granddaughter Bently’s first birthday. This is a manmade resort and a great getaway for all.

About 20 family members and friends gathered for a graveside service on Friday at the Gadsby Omega cemetery for Manuel Heer. Manuel’s son Dervil, daughters Sharon and Barbara were all there as well as daughter-in-law Susan Heer. Lunch at the bank building followed.

Kyle Bigney and Leigha Sheridan have been to Kimberly, B.C. to visit Kyle’s grandparents. They have enjoyed a week of visiting, quadding with Grandpa and a great holiday time.

Smitty and Lavonne Smith attended the wagon races in Dewberry last Sunday. This Sunday, they were in Castor for the equestrian 4-H finals.  Niece Cassidy Hronek earned a second place along with other awards. This event was held at the Dunkle ranch.

Remember to head out to Gadsby this weekend for the monthly supper at the bank building. The menu consists of a cold plate and dessert. Cash bingo follows at 7:30 p.m.
