The Endmoor Mites hockey tournament took place in Byemoor on Jan. 29, 2022.

Teams came from Big Valley, Hanna, Stettler and Endmoor to participate.

A number of draws were made at tournament with happy, lucky, winners.

Byemoor School had a birthday celebration day at the school on Jan. 28.

The school was decorated and everyone was served wonderfully decorated birthday cakes.

Carolin Schofer was joined by family and friends at the Byemoor Hall on Jan. 29 to celebrate her 60th birthday.

Welcome to the fabulous 60s, Carolin.

Sympathy is extended to the family of May Knowles who passed away on Jan. 27 in Hanna at the age of 96 years.

May was a long-time member of the Endiang – Byemoor communities before retiring to Stettler and recently Hanna.

May was one of five children born to Andrew and Clara Wasdal of Endiang.

She was raised on the family farm with her siblings Eleanor, Thelma, Art and Otto and attended Summerhill School.

She married Ed Knowles and they raised their four children: Audrey, Carol, Lyle and Melvin on their farm west of Byemoor.

May was very involved in the community and active in sports.

Our thoughts are with her family in their sad loss – Audrey (Lloyd) Hausher, Carol (Terry) Bradford and Lyle Knowles, daughter-in-law Lorna (Russ) Hayden and their families as well as sister-in-law Dot Wasdal and brother-in-law Joe (Elizabeth) Knowles and many other relatives and friends.

May will always be remembered for her many talents in homemaking, gardening, sports, community work and her kind and gentle ways.

She will be missed by many.

Word was received of the passing of Vivian Wesner.

Vivian became part of the Byemoor community in the 1980s when she married Lloyd Wesner and was a welcome addition to the community.

Further details will be in next week’s column. Our thoughts are with Vivian’s family in their loss of this special lady.

Humour for the day —

“Before the Crowbar was invented, crows had to drink at home.”

“To learn rope tricks you have to be taut.”

“Are you cold? Come sit in the corner – its 90 degrees.”

“People write Congrats because they can’t spell congrajlashins.”
