Winning weekend for minor hockey

Stettler Bantam A hosted Drumheller at the red rink on Sunday, Oct. 23, bringing home an 8-4 win to keep the spirits high.

The evening game saw Stettler quickly take the lead, with Reece Kranzler scoring the opening goal in the first period. Excellent defensive play kept the score 1-0 until the second period, when Justin Devloo and William Praski added another two goals to bring the tally to 3-0.

By the end of the second period, Drumheller had brought the score to 3-2; another goal by Stettler, off the stick of Rhett Normal, ensured the second ended 4-2.

Though Drumheller scored another two times in the third period, Stettler kept the pressure on and goals from Shay Anderson, Connor Robertson, Noah Duff and Kranzler ensured the game ended 8-4 for the home team.

Minor hockey roundupOn Saturday, Oct. 22, the Stettler Atom (2) travelled to Sylvan Lake, losing to the home team by a huge 20-2 difference. Atom (6) headed to Lacombe that same day, battling it out against the home team for a 6-6 tie.

Atom (9) hosted Lacombe on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the blue rink, winning 9-3, while Stettler Atom (5) came home from Blackfalds with a 6-5 loss. Olds handed Stettler Atom (1) a 16-1 loss on Sunday, Oct. 23 on Stettler's home ice, as did Rimbey, who beat the team 3-1 that same day.

On Saturday, Stettler Peewee (15) hosted Lacombe, winning 15-2. Stettler Atom (4) also beat Blackfalds 4-2 later that day. On Sunday, Stettler Peewee (8) went to Trochu, where they beat Kneehill 8-6. Stettler Peewee (18) drove down to Rimbey, where they outscored the home team 18-3.

The Bantam A were in Coronation on Saturday, Oct. 22, facing the home 3Cs. The Stettler team dealt the home team, made of players from Castor, Coronation and Consort a crushing 32-1 loss.

In Midget action, Stettler (9) fought RMAA to a 9-2 win on Friday, Oct. 21. The following day, Stettler (11) headed to Chestermere, where they beat the home team 11-3. On Sunday, Oct. 23, Stettler Midget (5) hosted Red Deer, winning 5-3.
