Stettler Storm capture Midget C title at Hockey Alberta Provincials

Local squad beat Elk Point 9-4 to win the championship in Rimbey on the weekend

Midget C Provincials

A dominant performance in Rimbey on Sunday helped the Stettler Storm capture the Midget C title.

The Midget C team went undefeated in five games played in Rimbey over the second weekend of Hockey Alberta Provincials.

The tournament started on March 23, with Stettler beating Elk Point 6-2 on Friday afternoon.

The Storm were back on the ice Saturday morning to play Bassano, winning 6-3.

Stettler was then back in action on Saturday afternoon to play Blackfalds, defeating them 5-2.

The semi-finals on Sunday saw Stettler power past the host Rimbey Renegades by a score of 5-2.

Stettler would play Elk Point again in the finals, finishing the tournament with a 9-2 win over the Avalanche.

PeeWee A Provincials

Stettler’s PeeWee A squad was also in action over the weekend at Provincials in Edmonton.

Unfortunately, the Stettler squad finished with a record of 0-3-1, and was unable to pick up a win in their four games at the Meadows Community Recreation Centre.

Stettler’s first game was a close one, as they fell 5-4 to Lethbridge on the morning of March 23.

The second game saw the SWZ Oil Kings beat Stettler by a score of 5-3 on Friday afternoon.

The third game of the weekend featured Stettler taking on Drayton Valley, where they fell by a score of 6-2.

Stettler’s final PeeWee A game ended in a 4-4 tie with Grande Prairie on Saturday afternoon.
