Stettler U12 girls maintained their outstanding performance as they beat Camrose 2-0 on Thursday, June 16 to win the league championship in their category.

The goals were scored by Kaitlyn Glasier and Olivia Stratulate.

"The girls have improved immensely over the last couple of months and they played their best game by far last night," said coach Grace Chapman. "Ashley Lang, our goaltender played amazingly, stopping some of the most difficult shots she has faced this season."

According to Chapman, every single girl on the team worked incredibly hard and completely deserve their gold medals.

"I'm so proud and I couldn't ask for a better group of girls to coach in my first year," added Chapman.

U14 boys to play for gold

The U14 boys played Ponoka for league semi-finals on Monday night, June 20 and beat them 3-1.

Josh DeGuzman scored two out of three goals, while Chase Cheater scored the third.

"The boys played a tremendous game and keeper Thomas Glasier played phenomenally," said coach Steven Wildeboar.

The boys now move on to play Lacombe for gold on Wednesday, June 22 in an away game.
