Schell and Schwartz winners of the Stettler Club Championship

Big Valley’s Sandra Schell and Stettler’s Shawn Schwartz won the female/male Club Championship.

It couldn’t have been a better day as the Stettler Golf Course held its Club Championship on Sunday, July 23.

Local golfer from Big Valley, Sandra Schell shot an 80 to win the ladies, while Shawn Schwartz won the men’s by shooting a 66, winning by one stroke over Sam Hamelin (who won the Junior category).

“I love having the opportunity to play in this tournament; being there and enjoying the company of all the other members is a huge bonus,” Schell said. “Golf is a game with so many ups and downs on any given day that it is a good feeling to be able to walk off the 18th green knowing you played well that day!”

Schell added, “Huge congratulations to all the flight winners and to the Mens’s Champion Shawn Schwartz. One day I’ll be able to shoot as low as he does!”

Other flight winners were Ken Garbutt and Teressa Symes.

Stettler Golf Course will also be hosting a ladies’ two-person scotchball tournament on Thursday, Aug. 10 and on Saturday, Aug. 12, they will be hosting the Men’s Open.
