Novice teams host Hockey Day in Stettler
Last weekend, Stettler was the first stop on Hockey Alberta’s “world hockey tour,” a provincial promotion in commemoration of the world junior hockey championship, which is set for Edmonton and Calgary during the Christmas holidays.
Stettler hosted its annual novice tournament, and each of the 10 teams was named after a country.
The seven- and eight-year-old boys and girls soaked up the international hockey experience, with games, stylized dressing rooms, photos in a makeshift Team Canada locker-room, and a clinic under the direction of local minor hockey coaches and players.
