Walter PATTERSON

PATTERSON, Walter

Walter Patterson passed away June 28, 2017 in the company and compassionate care of friends and care givers at Heritage House. He was 85. Walter was born May 29, 1932 on a farm near Kitscoty to Jessie and Robert Patterson, brothers George, Robert and John ahead of him, sisters Janice, Alice, Violet and Isabella to follow, made them a very large family. Walter said “growing up on the farm was the best years of his life.” Those farm years also shielded the Patterson family from the harshness of the depression.

Walter worked in Lloydminster, Chisholm and Westlock before retiring here in Stettler in 1992 with wife Elsie. In retirement Walter enjoyed travelling, fishing, camping, bike riding, and hobby wood working and was always available to lend a hand whenever he was asked. He leaves to mourn his special friends Ken and Shawna Sikstrom and Brian and Gail Peterson of Stettler, Alberta and the incredible staff of Heritage House.

There was a graveside farewell for Walter, Thursday, July 6, at 2:00PM at Lake View Cemetery as he was laid to rest next to his wife Elsie who predeceased him in 2002. Refreshments and a get together at Heritage House Recreation Room followed at 3:00 PM. All were welcome.

Memorial Donations can be made to Calgary Fire Fighters Burn Unit or a charity of your choice.
