WADE SCOT KONSCHUH

On Thursday, May 25, 2017 Wade passed away peacefully at his home after a short, courageous battle with colon cancer. Wade was born in Stettler on April 19, 1960 to Leona and Gerry Konschuh. He was the eldest of two children. Wade grew up and attended elementary school in Donalda. He completed his senior years of high school in Stettler.

Wade was scouted by Grant MacEwan College's volleyball team for his skill as a setter. He played for two years, earning MVP in 1981-82. It was during these years in Edmonton that Wade began dating and eventually married Bev Skaley. Professionally, Wade considered himself an entrepreneur. He would own four convenience stores during his career. He also worked briefly as a grocer, an insurance agent, and a carpenter. He was most recently employed at ACL in various roles, including production foreman.

Wade lived in the Sundre area almost continuously since 1982. He was very involved in the local sporting community, playing hockey, ball and curling. Wade and Bev began their family in 1991 when their son Parker was born. Wade was very excited when his daughter Becca was born two years later, completing his perfect family. He loved to travel; his stated goal was to see as much of the world as he could. He conquered much of North America, several countries in Europe and many Caribbean nations as well. One of his favourite trips was when he and his wife Bev travelled with friends to watch the British Open at St. Andrews in Scotland. Wade will be remembered for his quick wit, his ability to transform any item into a tool for entertaining others, and his love of hats and characters. He had a zest for life that was contagious. All who knew him loved to be around him. He will be truly missed, but he has left us with incredible memories. He will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his loving wife Bev and his children Parker (Taylor Timmermans) and Becca (Jordan Hebert); his mother Leona Konschuh; sister Sherry Derrick and her children Dustin (Heather) and Devon; mother in law Sharon Skaley; brother in law Len Skaley (Carolyn) and their children Jessica, Jeffrey and Caylen, as well as his other loving relatives and many dear friends. Wade was predeceased by his dad Gerry Konschuh and his father in law Art Skaley. A Celebration of Life was held on June 3, 2017 at the Sundre Curling Rink. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Moose and Squirrel Palliative Home Care Program or the Sundre Hospital.
