LESLIE - Thomas Keith

passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at the age of 82 years. He is survived by his children, Terry (Debra) Leslie of Sundre, AB, Valerie (Vern) Charles of Stettler, AB, Murray (Naida) Leslie of Calgary, AB,10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, his son Rodney, his parents, Norman and Gladys Leslie and his sister, Jean Rooney. Keith was born

in Dimsdale, AB Sept. 30, 1926. He met his wife Joyce while he was coaching her softball team in high school. They were married Oct. 6, 1948. After basic training in Camp Borden, ON and Fort Lewis WA, he served in Korea from 1950 to 1952. After returning from the war he spent his life working in the hospitality and service industry. Keith was instrumental in planning and building the original

A + W in Stettler in 1965. He then moved to southern Alberta. Beginning in high school, Keith was a dedicated volunteer and gave unselfishly of his time to help others in many service organizations. He was a people person, a character, an entertainer, with a way about him that just made you feel comfortable and accepted when you were in the room with him. Grandpa was a musician with a love for laughter, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, building and he spent many hours exploring in the Crowsnest Pass area where he lived for 25 years. Dad has left a legacy of unconditional love and support modeled for a lifetime toward his kids, and all the extended family that naturally occurs over 82 years. His spirit lives on through his children, grandchildren and all of the many lives he touched. Memorial service will be held on Dec. 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Chapel in Olds, AB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad’s name can be made to the Terry Fox Foundation.
