YOUNG, Ronald Brian

Ronald Brian Young was born to Harold and Jean on February 21, 1955 in Stettler Alberta. He attended school in Big Valley, Red Deer and Stettler. On November 29, 1975 Ron married Susan Hadley who was his high-school sweetheart and the love of his life. They began their married life in Big Valley and then moved to Stettler. To this union were born two beautiful daughters, Candice and Lacey. His family was his pride, his life and his secure place that he had been searching for. They were his joy and a source for endless teasing.

Ron started his working career driving truck for his dad even though he was underage and had no driver's license. He worked in the oil patch around Stettler for his dad and then later drove cement truck for the summer months and worked up north with Hi-Rate for the winter.

In 1988 Ron became his own boss and started his concrete finishing company Young's Concrete. He continued this for many years until poor health made it impossible to continue. He provided a firm foundation for many buildings and homes in Stettler and area.

Ron was a good Dad but he was an amazing Grandpa. His four grandkids were his greatest pride and joy. He wanted and usually saw at least one or all of them every day. He was their beloved Pa.

Ronnie loved holidays whether they were spent camping or cruising. Wherever or whatever Ron did he did it larger than life. Meals were large, vehicles were large but his generosity was the largest of all.

Ron was also a collector….if one was good more were better. Ron developed a love of hot wheels, vehicles and bookcases. He loved to buy bookcases on Buy and Sell but under Sue's profile.

Sue admits defeat…you won.

Ron passed away at the age of 61 years on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at his home in Stettler, Alberta.

Ron will be dearly missed by his wife Sue; his daughters Candice (Arbey), Lacey (Jason), and his perfect grandchildren: Riley, Brodie, Quinton and Kelsey. He leaves his sister Terri and sisters-in-law: Wanda, Carol (Don), Gail (Vince) and Marilyn (Dan); nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; other family and friends.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Harold and Jean, his brother Gary, his stepfather Stewart, brother-in-law Wayne and in-laws Freda and John.

A celebration of Ron's life was held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Stettler Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Schulze officiating. Donations in memory of Ron are gratefully accepted to Stettler Health Services Foundation or a charity of your choice c/o
