Margery
Margery Ward of Stettler, Alberta passed away on October 11, 2010 at the age of ninety three years. Margery was born on December 13, 1916 at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to Patty and John Laing. She grew up on a farm south of Altario and attended school at Crocusdale, Alberta west of Compeer, walking 3 1/2 miles for three years, and then continued her schooling at Wheatsheaf. After Margery turned thirteen she spent most of her holidays driving an outfit of horses for her dad, this was during the 1930's. For two winters Margery attended Olds Agriculture College. On April 7, 1945 Margery was united in marriage to Cecil Ward of Kirriemuir, Alberta, this was their home for the next thirty years where they farmed and raised their only daughter. In 1975 Margery and Cecil retired to Stettler, Alberta. Margery is survived by and will be sadly missed by her husband Cecil Ward of Stettler; her daughter Dianne (Rod) Andrew of Tees; grandchildren: Ryan (Jo-Ann) Andrew of Tees and their son Colton, Trina (Brian) Knight of Tees and their children Erica, Kaya and Josh, Kyle (Andrea) Andrew and their daughter Addison; sister Mona Hawkins of Powell River, BC; brother Jack (Jean) Laing of Calgary; as well as many other relatives and dear friends. A memorial service for the late Mrs. Margery Ward was held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta with Reverend Susan Bowyer officiating. Margery was laid to rest in the Lake View Cemetery, Stettler, Alberta.
