FITZPATRICK – Lyle Fitzpatrick was born and raised on his mom and dad's farm, three miles south of Donalda, AB. He was born on Feb. 22, 1915 and death came as a friend on April 20, 2008, at the age of 93. Lyle was the youngest of one brother and two sisters, born to Jerry and Minnie Fitzpatrick. Lyle went to school in Donalda and farmed with his brother and dad. In 1942 he moved into Donalda and bought grain for 36 years, retiring in 1978. Lyle was one of the best baseball pitchers in Alberta, loved to curl, golf, play pool, to dance and was a faithful supporter of the United Church and community events. He travelled the world and spent many years in Mesa, Arizona during the winter months. Lyle was predeceased by his loving wife Edith Mae on Jan. 8, 1992. He is survived by two daughters, Judy Dinsmore of Donalda and Sondrh B. Lea of Calgary, AB; two sons-in-law, Jack Dinsmore and Don Pochylko; five grandchildren, Teresa Donald and husband Larry, Kim Hanna and Pieter, Pat Dinsmore, Danny Pochylko and wife Kim, Duane Pochylko and wife Bernie, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial service was held on Thursday, April 24 at 2 p.m. in the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home with Rev. David Denholm officiating. A tribute of Lyle’s life was given by nephew, Allan Steinhoff with dear friends Alec Salmon, Lane Damberger and Marlene Bauman providing music before and after the service as well as for the congregational hymn “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”. Honorary pallbeareres were all Lyle’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandson. Interment of Lyle’s ashes will take place later in the spring at the Donalda Cemetery.
