SHEPHERD

Leigh Shepherd was born March 22, 1958 in Stettler, Alberta to Jimmie and Ethel Baird, the second of five children. Leigh grew up in the Gadsby area where she was very active in the Westwoods Community. She attended school in Gadsby and then Stettler for high school. Leigh passed away peacefully on September 8, 2013 surrounded by family and close friends at the Stettler Health Care Centre. Leigh loved swimming, gardening, children and her cats (Munschkin, Sassy and Bailey). She was always offering help before accepting help and rarely put herself first. Above all, her family and friends were always the most important people. She was very proud of her children and very much in love with all of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was very passionate about the Central Alberta MS Society. She worked hand-in-hand with the MS Society to raise funds and awareness for the debilitating disease that inflicted herself and so many of her close friends. Leigh is survived by her parents Jimmie and Ethel Baird of Gadsby; son James (Dana) Shepherd of Gadsby; daughter Adrianne Shepherd (Jordan Gerstmar) of Edmonton; four grandchildren: Austin and Slade Shepherd and Rowan and Sadie Gerstmar; brother Kevin (Dianne) Baird of Gadsby, sisters Lynne (Doug) Potter of Halkirk and Melody (Darrel) Baird of Sherwood Park; brothers-in-law Gary (Bess) Shepherd of Botha, Randy (Lori) Shepherd of Donalda, Kevin (Lou-Ann) Shepherd of Red Deer and sister-in-law Chris (Jim) Church of Bonneville; nieces and nephews: Kenny (Kayla), MaryBeth (Scott), Dustin, Lauren (Clint), Michael, Kyle, Kaliesha, Tyson, Tyra, Lex, Tom, Michael, Logan, David, Alana, Amanda, Brandy, Angie, Darcy, Krystal, Matthew, Lucas, Jonas and Justin. She was predeceased by her husband Alan Shepherd, son Carl Shepherd, sister Jessie Baird, brothers-in-law Don 'Fang' Shepherd and David Shepherd, father-in-law Dave Shepherd and mother-in-law Hulda Shepherd. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2 PM at the Heartland Chapel of Stettler Funeral Home with Pastor Ross Helgeton officiating.
