JAMES GREEN
1938 - 2008
James Green of Halkirk, AB was the youngest of four children born to Henry and Gertrude Green. He attended school in Spruce Creek and later in Halkirk. As a young man he was in 4-H in Halkirk and won first place for a steer. He also won a trip to Olds, AB for two weeks. Throughout his life he enjoyed ice curling and floor curling, playing cards, watching hockey, football and baseball on TV. James liked working on the farm. When he was 46 years old he had a heart attack and could no longer do heavy work. Predeceased by his parents and one brother William “Bill”, James is survived by his brother Robert Green of Provost, AB and sister Margaret Green of Halkirk, numerous cousins and a host of good friends. A funeral service was held in The Omega Cemetery, Gadsby, AB with Rev. Jim Culham. Pallbearers were Marvin Robinson, Roy Robinson, Doug Duke, Kent Johnson, Stan Anderson and Adolf Heier. Following the service, family and friends gathered in the Halkirk Hall for a time of sharing and light refreshments prepared and served by family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Omega Cemetery or a charity of donor’s choice, c/o Stettler Funeral Home.
