Herbert "Herb" William Awe

Herbert William Awe passed away peacefully at Heritage House in Stettler, Alberta on October 8, 2017. Herb was born on April 9, 1928 to Herbert and Emma (Steinhoff) Awe on the family farm near Red Willow, Alberta.

Herb married Alleen (Paulson) on August 10, 1963 and they began their love, hard work and farming. After a few years passed, they decided to start a family and were gifted with a beautiful daughter they named Maureen Helen Awe; she brought so much light into their world. In the 1990s their family began to grow even more when both their grandchildren were born, Jesse and Amber.

Herb always loved the farm and admired his family and of course his herd of cows, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Herb was an avid fisherman, hunter and handyman. All of Herb's time was spent outdoors; doing chores, maintaining the yard, fixing things, in the field or spending quality time with his family.

Herb was an active member of the Red Willow Cemetery Club, Donalda Museum, Senior Citizen Society, Agricultural Society and volunteered at many events in Red Willow and Donalda.

Herb will be dearly missed and always remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, determination and the love he had for his family and friends.

Herb is survived by his loving family: grandchildren Jesse Standage (Madison Hall) and Amber Standage (Derrick Neufeld); sisters: Anna Shirreff, Gladys Dahl and Dianne McEwing; sister-in-law Mary Anne Awe; nieces, nephews; numerous other family members and many dear friends.

Herb was predeceased by his parents Emma and Herbert Awe; parents in law Mabel and Otto Paulson; wife Alleen Awe; daughter Maureen Awe; brother George Awe and brothers-in-law Dave Shirreff and Johnny McEwing.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Heritage House staff for all they have done for Herb over the past few years.
