BATEMAN – Harvey Ross Bateman of Red Deer, AB passed away at the Red Deer Hospital on Friday, June 27 at the age of 63 years after a courageous battle with ALS/Cancer. Ross was born Nov. 1, 1944 in Stettler, AB. He is survived by his wife Gloria of 41 years, two sons, Justin (Kimberley, B.C.) and Jason of Red Deer; brothers Wayne (Lynn) Red Deer, Rod (Jan) Creston, B.C.; brothers/sisters-in-law, Horst and Shirley Sprenger and Gordon and Jean Olson; nephews/nieces: Devon, Jill, Michael, Christy, Ross and Leanne Bateman, Cody (Amy) Olsen, Becky (Cody) Dixon; also left to mourn his loss are numerous relatives and many great friends. Ross was predeceased by his parents Harvey and Irene Bateman, brother Jim Bateman, brother-in-law Ron Tennis. He worked as a journeyman painter and sheet metal mechanic in various locations throughout Alberta. Due to illness Ross retired in 2001. Ross enjoyed curling, golfing, was an avid hunter and fisherman. In recent years Ross enjoyed camping and quadding with friends and family in the West Country. In his retirement Ross took up wood carving, taking several courses at the Red Deer College. No service by request. Private internment to follow at a later date.
