WIGLEY - Mrs. Grace Elsie, of Stettler, AB passed away on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Grace is survived by her loving husband Fred Wigley of Stettler, children Fred Wigley Jr. (Elizabeth Sweere) of Stettler, Leanna Wigley (Steven McKay) of Stettler and Shirley Young of Barrie, ON; grandchildren Jason Wigley, Jeremy (Christine) Wigley, Stacey Young-Johnstone and Bryan Johnstone; great-grandchildren Tyson Wigley, Megan Grace Wigley, Bryanna and Quintyn Johnstone; sisters Helen Brewster and Mabel (Bill) Wigley as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. She was predeceased by her parents Gus and Etta Herzog, son Ross Wigley, step-son-in-law Doug Young, sisters Evelyn Gueffroy and Loye McKnight and brothers Harvey, Ed and Lawrence Herzog. Grace was born in Burbank, AB and took her schooling in Stettler. She lived and worked in Vancouver, B.C. for a period of time and worked in logging camps in Ontario. Grace and Fred were childhood sweethearts and then went their separate ways and were re-united in 1951, married in 1960 and have shared and enjoyed their lives together ever since. Grace loved to play bingo and cards. She babysat for countless years for numerous children that all called her Grandma and all loved her dearly. Grace was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Royal Purple for many years. She was a lady who would listen to anybody’s problems and would do her best to help them any way she could. She would give them advice or give them a helpful jab to get them started on the right track again. Her saying was, “there was no such word as can’t, just do your very best, and give it your best shot”. Grace loved all people and liked to talk to them over a cup of coffee or play a game of cards. She loved her family; brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews and especially her husband, children, grandchildren and their spouses, and great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Stettler United Church, Stettler, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Denholm officiating. Active pallbearers were Owen Blake, Lorne Thurston, Jack Chapman, Hugh Campbell, Lawrence Black and Bob North. Grace was laid to rest at the Lake View Cemetery in Stettler.A reception & fellowship followed in the Stettler United Church CE Wing and was graciously served by the UCW ladies. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation in care of Brennen Funeral Home (2001) Ltd., P.O.
